Pleroma is a scalable ActivityPub server written in Elixir so communities can host a Fediverse microblog with a leaner runtime than a full Mastodon deployment.
The Elixir/OTP backend aims at leaner resource use than a full Mastodon deployment while speaking ActivityPub to the wider Fediverse. Many Mastodon-API clients work against it. Source is at git.pleroma.social. Operators often pair the backend with a separate frontend of their choice.
