Pixelfed is the federated photo-sharing server that PixelDroid talks to — an Instagram-like timeline without ads or ranking. Communities can self-host (Pixelfed docs; examples only—not a canonical list):

project instance
public Pixelfed community
German-language instance

Chronological feeds, albums, and hashtags are the core product — no ads, no ranking.
