Owncast is ActivityPub-powered livecasting so streamers can run their own live video and chat instead of living only under a Twitch-shaped terms of service.

Streamers ingest live video (typical RTMP workflows), keep chat on their box, and can publish follows over ActivityPub so Fediverse accounts see stream updates. Docs and releases live at owncast.online. Hosting stays under the streamer's terms instead of a platform ToS.
